Welcome to The Young Lawyer, the publication of the ABA's largest entity, The Young Lawyers Division. If you are an ABA member under 36 years of age or within your first three years of practice, you are a "young lawyer," and this publication is tailored to help satisfy your professional needs. The Young Lawyer's primary goal is to convey to newer lawyers the wealth of meaningful member services and benefits available to YLD and ABA members services and benefits designed to assist you in your practice; and to help you better balance you personal and professional lives.
The Young Lawyer publishes four pages monthly from September through June and a double July/August edition. Each month, The Young Lawyer will arrive burgeoning with information and tips in a convenient, easy-to-read format that will intrigue and whet your appetite. Brief articles, "bullet point" lists, and charts will be followed with references and direction on how to get more information. In essence, The Young Lawyer will serve as your personal "tour guide" to the many services and benefits that are the YLD and the ABA.
The Young Lawyer will also present articles and references to source materials on ethics and professionalism, solo and small firm practice, law practice management, client relations, financial and investment tips, rainmaking, marketing, quality of life, inexpensive CLE, and ABA Section materials and involvement. The Young Lawyer will focus on providing information, services, and tips you can use in your daily practice, while leaving more lengthy and esoteric articles to your law review of choice.
While no publication can be all things to all people, the YLD believes The Young Lawyer better communicates with newer lawyer members, better satisfies your needs, and is more relevant to our daily practices and lives. We hope you agree and that you will continue to share with us your comments and reactions. Your input is vital to maintaining The Young Lawyer's effort to provide the best member service possible. Keep an eye open for The Young Lawyer each month; another benefit of your membership in the ABA and the Young Lawyers Division.
