ABA YLD Summit
Young Lawyers: The Next Generation
A recent worldwide study of associates shows that the next generation of lawyers ranks time for personal life, professional growth, advancement to partnership, and job security as their top priorities. Despite that response, many new lawyers find themselves inundated by the growing demands of the profession with little time for personal activities and the pressure to mitigate an average of $80,000 in student debt. The newest crops of young lawyers must also overcome job market woes and tread longer on the path to partnership than those from earlier generations.
On February 8, 2008, 163 young lawyers and other members of the profession joined facilitator Michael Brandwein and the ABA Young Lawyers Division to engage in critical discussion on these issues, explore solutions, and examine how new lawyers can better prepare for the profession.
