2007-2008 The Year of the Summit
Summits are an exciting component of the ABA Young Lawyers Division 2007-2008 Conferences. Chair Justin Goldstein created the summits as a forum to allow participants to engage in discussions on the most pressing issues facing young lawyers across the country. Participants will provide direct input into shaping the future of the ABA YLD and the legal profession, and will also gain tools to help improve their careers and enhance their leadership skills.
The feedback from the discussions will provide the base for initiatives such as:
- Articulating next steps and long-term goals for the ABA YLD, the national voice of young lawyers. Such steps may include drafting resolutions for the YLD Assembly, which sets policy for the Division
- An On-Line Toolkit containing links to member resources and research materials regarding concerns and solutions raised at the Summits
- A white paper which captures the issues, ideas, and solutions voiced by the Summit attendees

On April 19th over 175 young lawyers from across the country came together to discuss how, as bar leaders and as individuals they are going to ensure that the profession reflects the society that it serves and fosters an inclusive environment.
