On Friday afternoon, the YLD, led by the Portland Conference Host Committee and the YLD National Conferences Team, will participate in a local public service event. Events at previous conferences have included painting, installing playground equipment, visiting a juvenile detention
facility to talk with teens, going to a local school to talk about citizenship, and others. If you are interested in participating, please check the appropriate box on your printed or on-line registration form. Additional information will be provided to you prior to the conference.

ABA YLD On-Site Affiliate Assistance Visits
Members of the ABA YLD Affiliate Assistance Team will be available to roundtable with any affiliate leaders seeking counsel and suggestions on individual affiliate issues. Such topics might include recruiting new members, retaining current members, motivating board members, fundraising, improving PR for an affiliate, senior bar relations, using technology to advance your affiliate, long-range strategic planning, shoestring projects, etc. If you are interested in this free service, simply email or call Ryan Reed, ryan@elpolaw.com or 270-393-1628 to sign up for a 30-minute meeting on Friday or Saturday mornings. May 19 or Saturday, May 20.

ABE One-On-One Financial Planning Sessions
The American Bar Endowment (ABE) has arranged for a Financial Planner to meet with attendees. ABE will sponsor Thomas A. Haunty, a Certified Financial Planner ® (CFP®) practitioner with North Star Resource Group. He specializes in providing financial planning services for attorneys and their clients. Each appointment will be ten minutes long and prior to the meeting Mr. Haunty will ask you to complete a Screening/Financial History form. This questionnaire will provide the background he needs for your discussion. Appointments available the mornings of Friday, May 19 and Saturday May 20 and are scheduled every fifteen minutes. Mr. Haunty will also present a workshop on Friday, May 19, "Where do I begin? Financial Planning for
Young Lawyers." If you are interested in making an appointment to facilitate financial planning with Mr. Haunty, please contact Kelly Abeles at the ABE at 312-988-6407 or email her at kabeles@abendowment.org.
