Resources for Local Bars
The American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division operates as a federation of over three hundred autonomous young lawyer organizations that have affiliated with the Division.
The affiliation system is designed to allow an exchange of ideas and communication among the hundreds of young lawyer organizations in existence.
The Division's affiliates consist of state, local, national, and international young lawyer organizations.

Fellowships
Several ABA Sections have developed fellowship programs, the goals of which are:
- to provide active young lawyers an opportunity to become involved in the substantive work of the ABA Section
- to develop future leaders of that Section
- to enhance knowledge about the work of the Section among members of the YLD.
Fellowships are extremely successful in meeting these goals and provide young lawyers with a great opportunity for involvement.

E-Library
This year, the Young Lawyers Division will present the "101 Practice Series" as its Member Service Project. Our focus is on the lawyers that are new to our profession and who are in their first three years of practice. Our goal is to provide these new lawyers with basic training in both substantive and practical aspects of a law practice. Too often, our youngest members do not receive the mentorship and training they need to learn basic lawyering skills. Young lawyers often specialize too early without knowing basic information about other areas of law that are critical to becoming a well-rounded lawyer (such as real estate, intellectual property, or environmental law) or important practical skills (such as negotiating settlements or drafting contracts).
A book containing many 101 Practice series articles is now available in the ABA web store.
All the Division's meetings and conferences include several different kinds of programming --public service, CLE, professional development, member service, affiliate assistance/bar leadership to name a few .These programs provide information that can benefit both affiliate organizations, who can use the information to duplicate the programs in their own communities, and the individual young lawyers who attend the conferences.
The number of program offerings continues to grow, and this archive contains past, present and future programming. The materials are divided up into general categories, but some programs overlap so they can be found in more than one area.
