Whether you pronounce it Looavul, Luhvul, Louieville or Looahville, I hope that you will call this wonderful city home for three days in October. The YLD's Fall Conference - our kickoff conference for the 2005-06 bar year - promises to be an opportunity for learning, teambuilding, networking and fun.
The Fall Conference features a variety of programming, such that affiliate leaders, new graduates and tenth-year partners will all find programming to meet their interests. On the public service side, we'll introduce young lawyers to the national public service project Answering the Call, which challenges young lawyers to assist people living with HIV and AIDS. We'll also feature several public service projects that have been successful in local affiliates. Our member service project will offer breakouts on topics relating to charting your own career development. For those seeking CLE, you'll have an opportunity to earn up to six CLE credits, selected from among eight programs, including an ethics program and a session featuring a federal judge. Affiliate leaders will meet with our affiliate assistance team during breakout sessions, and also during one-on-one sessions designed specifically for individual affiliates. Finally, if financial planning is in your future, don't miss the American Bar Endowment's breakout on personal financial planning and the one-on-one financial planning meetings offered for individuals.
Outside of our breakout programs, there are numerous opportunities to meet and work with other young lawyers. We offer social events on both Thursday and Friday nights. And on Friday afternoon, we will venture out into the Louisville community for a public service event that will highlight our focus on public service and provide attendees with an opportunity to benefit the local community.
With the exception of our Friday night social event, all programs and events are provided at no cost to young lawyers through the generous support of the American Bar Association, our corporate sponsor Lexis-Nexis, and the fundraising efforts of our local host committee. We hope that you will take advantage of the opportunity to get a glimpse of all that the Young Lawyers Division has to offer by joining us in October.
