The ABA Young Lawyers Division Council consist of Officers, Directors, District Representatives, Constitutional Representative, National Bar Representatives, and Non-Voting Members: Coordinators.

The general executive and administrative authority over the Division resides in the Council, which acts as the functional counterpart of the ABA's Board of Governors.

During the time between YLD Assembly meetings, the Council generally may take any action that the Assembly could take, except to rescind a previous action of the Assembly. The Council normally meets four times per year.
