Bylaws & Policies
- The Division Bylaws are the guiding principals to which the Young Lawyers Division governance looks in leading the membership and its constituents. They were adopted in August 1999 and are reviewed and amended at every Mid-Year and Annual meeting.
- While the Chair is the “chief executive, operating, and administrative officer", the Division has committed certain matters to boards that operate outside the Chair’s administration.
- The ABA YLD is the largest voluntary bar association division in the United States. It has a total membership of approximately 140,000, and is also recognized as an entity within the ABA that institutionally promotes and embraces diversity.
- The ABA YLD Affiliates hold regional meetings and conferences for its members throughout the year. These meetings target the state and local audiences of the Affiliates. The regional conferences are an important part of the YLD membership growth. The regulations and policies pertaining to Regional Conferences are reviewed and amended at each Mid-Year meeting.
