The American
Bar Association Young Lawyers Division operates as a federation
of over three hundred autonomous young lawyer organizations that
have affiliated with the Division. The affiliation system is designed
to allow an exchange of ideas and communication among the hundreds
of young lawyer organizations in existence. The Division's affiliates
consist of state, local, national, and international young lawyer
organizations.
Each affiliate is provided a voice in the governance of the Division
through its district representative, who serves on the Division's
Council and Assembly. The Division assists its affiliates by providing
them with funding, instructional material, recognition, leadership
opportunities, and hands on assistance. This assistance is provided
through public and member service subgrants, national and regional
conferences, bar leadership programming, public and member service
projects, scholarships, and assistance from the Division's Affiliate
Assistance Team.
