Northern Kentucky Bar Association Young Lawyers Section (NKBA YLS)
Congratulations to the NKBA YLS! The young lawyers section from Crestview Hills, Kentucky, became the Division’s newest affiliate at the recent ABA YLD Fall Conference.


» ABA YLD Subgrant Applications Now Available Online

Does Your Affiliate Organization Have a Project That Needs Funding?
Subgrants are awarded annually by the ABA YLD, with support from the ABA Fund for Justice and Education. This program is designed to promote quality projects developed by affiliated young lawyer organizations and to assist in the success of the program by providing support through program funding for the following two categories: Public Service Project and Bar Leadership/Membership Service Project.


» 2009-2010 Public Service Project

They Had a Dream Too: Young Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement
The American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (ABA YLD) is proud to present the 2009-2010 Public Service Project, They Had a Dream Too: Young Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement. The project is designed to educate 11th and 12th grade students about the civil rights struggles that have occurred since the 1950s and to inspire them to become future leaders.

Resources for New Lawyer Bar Leaders

BAR LEADER TOOLKIT

The YLD Bar Leader Toolkit brings together recommendations, tips, and tools, from the Bar Leadership Academy Handbook, on how to increase the value of your young lawyer organization. Topics include Developing an Annual Report, Developing Future Bar Leaders, Developing a Diversity Plan, and more. View Toolkit

YLD INITIATIVES

 
Through the Disaster Legal Services Program the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the American Bar Association Young Lawyers Division work together to provide assistance to low-income disaster victims. After a disaster is declared a Disaster Hotline connects individuals with licensed attorneys who volunteer their services at no charge. Learn more about this on-going project.

They Had a Dream Too: Young Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement Logo They Had a Dream Too: Young Leaders of the Civil Rights Movement is designed to educate 11th and 12th graders about the important and often littleknown role of students, teenagers and children in the Civil Rights Movement.
