ABA YLD ASSEMBLY

The Assembly is the principal policymaking authority within the Division. As a general rule, it may review any action (other than an election, appointment, or award) by the Council or any other board, committee, subcommittee, officer, representative, or other elected or appointed agent. The Assembly is composed of members of the YLD Council, delegates representing affiliated state and local bar young lawyer organizations, two delegates representing each national affiliate, and a delegate appointed by and representing the chief legal officer of each of the U.S. armed forces.

The Assembly debates many issues of importance to young lawyers, including policies placed on the ABA's House of Delegates calendar for debate. For more information about policy adopted by the YLD, please contact the Division at younglawyers@abanet.org.

The Assembly takes place on Saturday morning of the ABA Midyear Meeting and Friday afternoon and Saturday morning of ABA Annual Meeting. For meeting dates and locations visit our meetings and events page.

The delegate certification process will begins two months before the meeting, so please revisit this site for more information at that time.

If you are a young lawyer member of the ABA and would like to be certified as a delegate to the YLD Assembly, please contact your state and/or local bar young lawyer organization. For more information, contact Renee Lugo at lugor@staff.abanet.org or 312-988-5611.
