As you know, national elections offer great opportunities to introduce students to our electoral process and the issues currently facing our nation. Here are some resources you can use to explore voting-related issues in your classroom.
The ABA Division for Public Education offers a wealth of materials on law-related education. Its collection of resources on voting rights and responsibilities includes:
1. Insights on Law & Society: Voice of the People. Insights on Law & Society is the Division's award-winning publication for teachers of civics, government, history, and law. Subscribers receive both a print magazine and access to an online edition featuring extended articles, lesson plans, online resources, and student activities. In support of the Freedom's Answer initiative, the Division is making the following materials from its Voice of the People edition available free of charge. [Subscription information]

2. Online ConversationLaw, Diversity, and the Votea special look at how America's diverse peoples come together through the vote. Designed for teachers and students, these pages explore Youth Citizenship, Voter Registration, and Representation through short articles, web-based activities, and interactive voting features, with links to additional voting-related resources.
3. Additional online journals for educators. The Division for Public Education has published several other journals of voting-related issues, available in their entirety in .pdf format on the Division's website.
- Update on Law-Related Education, vol. 20.3 (1996)Election 1996. This issue, a collaboration between the Division for Public Education and the ABA Standing Committee on Election Law, offers a range of articles, teaching strategies, and resources on voting and voting rights.
- Focus on Law Studies, vol. XVII.1 (2001)Voting Rights Issues in the New Millennium. A collection of articles on issues arising from the 2000 elections and election reform debates.
4. Online Lesson Plans and Quizzes. The Division for Public Education offers two vote-related online lesson plans for middle- and high-school students, as well as two interactive mini-quizzes.

and distribute as a student handout to discuss voter rights and
responsibilities.
