YOUNG LAWYERS
OF TIPS
The Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section
(TIPS) is one of the leading ABA Sections for the placement of young
lawyers in leadership positions. TIPS leadership continues to demonstrate
its commitment to the development and recruitment of young lawyers.
This Section does more than just talk about young lawyers - we act.
Here are a few examples how young lawyers are
shaping the course of this Section:
· Young Lawyers lead substantive law committees (general
committees) as chairs, vice-chairs, newsletter editors and web
masters;
· Young Lawyers author articles for The Brief and other national
publications;
· Young Lawyers help plan and speak at top national CLE
programs;
· Young Lawyers serve on funded TIPS committees and task forces,
such as Professionalism Long Range Planning and Outreach to State
and Local Bars;
· TIPS provides more annual funded scholarships to Young Lawyers
through our TIPS Now! Fellows program than
any other Section; and
· More Young Lawyers serve as funded YLD Liaisons in TIPS than
in any other Section.
Still not convinced? TIPS also provides the
professional skills training, expertise and networking that young lawyers
need to gain a competitive edge. TIPS offers numerous opportunities
through more than 35 substantive law committees to become a leader at
a national level in your area of specialty. In today's highly competitive
environment, advantages such as these not only make you a better lawyer,
but also make you more marketable and assist you in furthering your
career.
As a member of TIPS, you will work with nationally
renowned experts through committee memberships. TIPS members specialize
in product and professional liability, medical malpractice, intellectual
property and computer law, commercial transportation litigation, aviation
law, environmental law and other mass, civil and commercial litigation
practice areas. Our committees are eager to involve young lawyers, who
will work closely with leading plaintiffs' attorneys, defense attorneys
and insurance company and corporate counsel. Members can join up to
three committees without charge. Also included with TIPS membership
is a year subscription to Torts
and Insurance Law Journal, The
Brief and TortSource.
Young lawyers, who belong to the American Bar Association, can join
TIPS for only $45 dollars per year.
