Welcome to the TIPS Staff Counsel Committee website. It is an honor and a privilege to serve as Chair of the TIPS Staff Counsel Committee, the first place in the ABA to address the special concerns of staff counsel. Our Committee membership is comprised of representatives from most of the national insurance carriers that use staff counsel. We look forward to the participation of every carrier that employs staff counsel in our efforts to improve communication and disseminate information, improve the quality of our practice, and to protect the right to practice law as staff counsel attorneys..

As a TIPS Committee, we are open to all TIPS members and we welcome representatives from panel counsel, the plaintiff’s bar and those concerned with regulatory aspects of the insurance business. Nonetheless, our charter is to address the concerns of attorneys practicing as staff counsel.

We have made great progress, having sponsored seminars for our members and joining other Committees with presentations at mid-year and annual meetings. Our list of Vice-Chairs continues to grow which offers a chance that should not be missed for career and personal development.

Please distribute our latest Newsletter throughout your office. Forward it to the attorneys you know who would like to join our efforts. Better yet, join us at our next meeting in August in New York and get involved! Hope to see you soon.

For enrollment in a committee of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section, simply fill out the on-line committee application form.

Please note:  If you are already a Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section member, you may join up to three (3) committees at no additional cost. However, if you are not a Section member, you must join the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section first.
