| STAFF COUNSEL ETHICS and ISSUES COMMITTEE Welcome |
Seated: Patricia G. Hughes, Chair; John Cartafalsa, Chair Elect; Denise DiMascio, Chair Elect Designee Thanks for visiting the TIPS Staff Counsel Committee website. I am honored and look forward to serving as the Chair of the TIPS Staff Counsel Committee for the 2008-2009 year. The Staff Counsel Committee continues to be involved in the important work of the Section. We have been an active TIPS Committee since 2001. Our purpose is to address the unique management and practice needs of insurance staff counsel employees. At the same time, we plan to educate the general bar as to our value and are many contributions to the legal profession. Since 2001, the Committee has provided continuing legal education (CLE) in the areas of ethics, management and trial techniques. Involvement in the committee provides members the opportunity to network and gain important organizational and speaking skills on a wide range of topics. We encourage you to join our Committee and get involved in the many projects planned for the upcoming year. We have planned two Webinars for 2009, another great Committee Service Project to provide warm, hats, scarves and gloves for needy children in the Boston area. In addition, the committee will put on a CLE Program at the 2009 Annual meeting in Chicago. You are encouraged to get involved with the committee and take advantage of the many leadership development opportunities, by becoming Chair, Vice Chair of committees such as Membership, or serving as a liaison to another TIPS committee. My goal as chair is to increase membership, support TIPS diversity goals and continue to highlight the Staff Counsel Committee within TIPS and the American Bar Association.
