Dear Medicine & Law Committee:

My personal vision for the Medicine & Law Committee this year is to grow an active and strong Committee. To fulfill this vision, my personal goals for the Committee this year are three fold: 1) to produce relevant materials on important topics at the nexus of medicine and law; 2) to connect committee members with each other and others in TIPS to further their personal and professional goals; 3) to secure a leadership succession plan so that the work of the committee continues.

We are well on our way to fulfill that vision. I am pleased to work with great leaders in our Committee who have helped to get our Committee on track over the past year. The heartbeat of our leadership can be heard during monthly leadership telephone conferences that usually last 30 minutes and are scheduled to accommodate the bicoastal nature of our members. We have also met in person at ABA conferences and meetings, issued a membership survey, increased membership communication through e-mail blasts, and have submitted a CLE for the 2009 Annual Meeting on medical experts. However, we truly need your help to make our committee successful.

Your involvement in the work of the Committee is critical to making this an active and strong Committee. I invite you to become more involved in the work of the committee. Getting started is easy! Just send me an email at kather06@gmail.com. There are opportunities with newsletter and journal articles authorship and editing, CLE programs, membership outreach and recruitment, and much more.
