ABOUT US

It is an exciting time for the TIPS International Committee. In the words of the New York Times' Foreign Affairs correspondent Thomas Friedman, "The World is Flat!" Technology, along with other factors, has tied together business activities around the globe. Everything is international.

"Globalization" affects law as much as commerce, maybe more:

  • Plaintiffs firms are reportedly looking outside of the United States for new classes of plaintiffs.
  • Litigants in foreign countries are seeking discovery from American proceedings.
  • American legal "reforms" have, in some instances, led plaintiffs to consider whether their remedies may be better in courts outside the United States

The legal world, much like the commercial world, is becoming "flat."

International issues have become much more important to TIPS Members and the TIPS International Committee is working to address this need. The Committee is seeking articles for its newsletter concerning practical international considerations. Telephonic CLEs are being developed. Other Committee members are seeking to develop an in-person CLE meeting.

To address this new world, please join our world. Join the TIPS International Committee. Work with us to better face the new international challenges that we face. We welcome you.
