Welcome to the home page for the FSLC's Young Professionals Subcommittee
(the "YPS"). We have recently redesigned our home page to contain even more useful information including a listing of
upcoming activities, member announcements, and links to contact various members of the Board, as well as information on publishing opportunities.
The YPS is a subcommittee of the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee
devoted to company representatives, attorneys, and consultants ages 40 and under. The subcommittee was formed in the
mid-1990s with a few ambitious members and has quickly grown to serve educational, networking, and social functions.
The fidelity & surety industry is comprised of a very close community
of company representatives, attorneys, and consultants. For young professionals seeking to join that community the task
can be daunting. By providing a smaller group as a stepping-stone to further involvement in the industry, the YPS serves
an important and useful purpose.
Our primary meeting takes place on the Wednesday before the Mid-Winter
Meeting of the Fidelity & Surety Law Committee, held each year in late January, typically in New York City or San Francisco. The 2007 Mid-Winter Meeting will take place in San Francisco.
It provides an intimate atmosphere in which the Board members provide reports and all members have an opportunity to meet
or become reacquainted. The meeting generally contains an educational component as well. This meeting is open to all
subcommittee members and potential members. Feel free to attend.
The YPS also has a well-deserved reputation for hosting phenomenal
social functions. We attempt to maintain a social suite at all Fidelity & Surety Law Committee Programs which often serves
as a meeting place for committee members or simply a place to relax during the course of a hectic function. We also
traditionally sponsor a Dutch-treat dinner on Wednesday night prior to the start of the Mid-Winter Meeting and find local
establishments where we coordinate get-togethers late in the evening that often run into the early morning. In recent years we've hosted a very popular "Texas Hold-Em" poker tournament, as well.
The friendships and the relationships forged within the YPS have
the potential to last forever. The smaller more controlled environment in which a number of our gatherings take place
provide all of us with opportunities to meet others in our chosen field who often share similar interests.
We urge you to join this group and spend some time with us.
We promise you will be hooked after your first meeting or function.
