Fidelity and Surety Law Committee
Young Professionals Subcommittee
Overview of Our
Subcommittee
Welcome to the home page for the FSLC's Young Professionals
Subcommittee(the "YPS")! The YPS consists of company representatives, attorneys and consultants under the age of 40 or of individuals that have been practicing less than 5 years. The
subcommittee was formed in an effort to assist young and/or new professionals in our industry to maximize both their involvement in and the benefits they receive from the FSLC.
It can be a daunting task to become involved in the FSLC. If you have
ever attended an FSLC meeting, you likely noticed hundreds of people in attendance, many of whom seemed to have known each other for years. A young surety or fidelity professional can
feel a bit adrift in this environment. The YPS is a great conduit for newer members of the profession to break the ice and meet peers within the FSLC.
We provide YPS members with opportunities to network and build
relationships among a smaller but significant circle of peers within the FSLC. More than socializing though, we also provide career enhancing opportunities, in that our subcommittee
serves as a springboard to participation in the FSLC at large, either as a speaker, an author of an article, or a leader within the organization. Additionally, we arrange YPS social
gatherings at most major FSLC programs, giving our young professionals the opportunity to form long-lasting business contacts and friendships.
The YPS is designed to facilitate networking among its members. To
date, several YPS members have been retained by and received business referrals from other members of our organization. During the past five years, many of us have formed business
relationships that will span our entire careers.
In its relatively short existence, the YPS is off to a great start.
We welcome any questions you may have and encourage you to join the YPS and to obtain the benefits our subcommittee offers. To become a member of YPS, please complete the on-line committee application form. If you have any questions about Committee participation please send an e-mail message to tips@abanet.org.
