Congratulations!
The First Surety Claims Workshop was a
huge success! The program planners, Deborah Griffin and Ken
Givens, and the program panelists helped create an innovative
and engaging new seminar format. The workshops were a great
way to meet new people and shoptalk strategies for handling
performance bond defaults. In addition to the workshops, all
of the attendees enjoyed golf, beach volleyball, bike rides,
dolphin boat cruises, and more. Thanks to Larry Moelman for
all of his hard work in Chairing the Social Activities.
Thursday Activities
Tennis Tournament
Approximately 14 participants competed
in a round robin format. Unfortunately, the playoffs were
rained out, but winners were selected on the basis of their
standing during the round robin competition. Congratulations
to all the winners who received prizes of tennis racquet
covers, sweatshirts, or water bottles.
Bike Riding
Approximately 30 attendees/guests
participated in this popular activity. Bike riders followed
the island bike path and checked out the local scenery,. Some
riders took the more adventurous route home and enjoyed the
scenery along the beach. Fortunately, all safely returned
just minutes prior to the afternoon downpour.
Beach Olympics
Unfortunately, this event was rained
out and all were forced to wait out the storm at the poolside
bar. Eventually the storm cleared and a spirited game of
beach volleyball ensued.
Friday Activities
Best Ball Golf Tournament
Approximately twenty teams enjoyed a
beautiful afternoon of golf at the Port Royal Golf Club.
While scores were reported and prizes were awarded, no
representations are made as to the accuracy of the scores.
Horseback Riding
Deborah Griffin coordinated a group of
ten attendees/guests for a beautiful afternoon ride through
the Island preserve. The trail guides provided the riders
with a variety of local area lore and information during the
ride, including an explanation on the origin of "Sleep
tight, don't let the bed bugs bite!" which has to do
with the proliferation of Spanish Moss growing in the area.
The trail riders even saw a couple of alligators along the
tour, but all arrived safely back at the barn without as much
as a nibble!
