A CLE Gold Mine
TIPS Fall Meeting
Westin St. Francis
San Francisco, CA

Welcome

Dear Colleagues:

One of the benefits of a busy year as Chair of TIPS is the right to decide the location of the Fall Meeting. In my case, all points led to San Francisco - my home town. Blessed with good fall weather, easy access to two major airports, a favorite destination of TIPsters and, most importantly, San Francisco boasts a large and diverse legal community. Our hotel is the Westin St. Francis in the heart of Union Square. Both the hotel lobby and Union Square are newly renovated, and only steps away from one of the most famous shopping districts in the world.

Although most of you have visited San Francisco often, Arrangements Chair Sue Popik selected social venues that would make this meeting both fun and different. The festivities will begin Thursday, after an excellent CLE program presented by three well-known jury consultants, with a reception and wine tasting presented by the Committee on Diversity in the Profession. After that reception, the festivities will continue with a welcome reception at Armani Café.

Our Friday morning CLE programs on the tips, tools, and tricks of mediation and trial skills, taught by professional actors, will flow into a Corporate Counsel lunch featuring an entertaining speaker. Lunch will be followed by more trial skills training, golf (for those so inclined) and the Task Force on Plaintiff's Involvement reception. Bring your dancing shoes for the Friday night Salsa Hospitality - where Orquesta Universale will end our busy day!

After Saturday's diverse CLE menu (graphics and technology in the courtroom, ethics, and a second mediation panel), we will leave the hotel in late afternoon for an Italian dinner and nightclubbing in another famous San Francisco neighborhood, North Beach. Dress casually and join us at Club Fugazi for a performance of Beach Blanket Babylon, a zany ever-changing musical pop-culture spoof and San Francisco's longest running hit musical review.

October temperatures for San Francisco average a high of 70 and low of 52. As always, bring layers of clothing - as October can mean warm days and cool nights. See you in San Francisco on October 27, 2005!

Very truly yours,

Sandra R. McCandless
