Following are some frequently asked questions about our committee.

Q: What is the Corporate Counsel Committee?

A: The Corporate Counsel Committee is a committee of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association which provides a professional forum for attorneys interested in issues facing inside and outside corporate counsel.

Q: Who may become members of the Committee?

A: Membership in the Committee is open to all members of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. If you are a member of the ABA, but are not a member of TIPS, simply fill out the on-line application form to join TIPS. For further information about how to join the Committee, go to our Membership Information page.

Q: What are the Committee's activities?

A: The principal activities of the Committee are:

Publications: The Committee publishes a Newsletter on a quarterly basis, and members are encouraged to submit items for inclusion in the Newsletter or for other publications of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section. The Committee also participates in the TIPS Annual Survey of Insurance Law by providing an article on developments in this area for the Winter edition of the Tort & Insurance Law Journal.

Meetings: The Committee meets once a year, at the Annual ABA meeting in August. At these meetings, the Committee sponsors and puts on continuing education programs on topics of interest to corporate counsel.

Subcommittees: The Committee has nine Subcommittees which carry out the bulk of the work of the Committee, encourage publishing and encourage other activities of interest.

Regional CLE Programs: The Committee is planning to sponsor regional CLE programs in the area of litigation management.

ABA Internet Site: The Committee created, and periodically updates, this portion of the ABA's Internet site.

Q: How can I become involved in the activities of the Committee?

A: All members of the Committee are encouraged to become involved in Committee activities. For further information, go to our Membership Information page, or contact a Subcommittee chair directly.

For enrollment in a committee of the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section, simply fill out the on-line committee application form.

Please note:  If you are already a Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section member, you may join up to three (3) committees at no additional cost. However, if you are not a Section member, you must join the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section first.
