We all know (or have heard) about the great discussions that happen around the proverbial water cooler in the office. Whether your discussions are around the water cooler (a la Dagwood) or between cubbies or in the hallway (like Dilbert), those are the places you get questions answered, forge working relationships and friendships, provide support and information to your coworkers and generally learn the ins and outs of how your office functions. Corporate Insurance Chat will be our email listserve water cooler, giving us all a place to share successes and find solutions to problems.

Around the water cooler

Who should you contact in that state office three states away to discuss your problem? Litigating out of your area and need a local expert? Do you know which which policy types can be filed on SERFF? Ask your Corporate Insurance Chat listmates. Have an issue you haven't encountered before? Run it by the Corporate Insurance Chat water cooler for suggestions and advice. We urge you to give Corporate Insurance Chat a try. You may find that your law firm or in-house legal staff has just grown by hundreds who will provide advice, suggestions, support and comment on just about anything you are interested in or need information about.

Initially, all members of the TIPS Corporate Counsel and Insurance Regulation Committees will be invited to participate in the Corporate Insurance Chat Listserve. Committee members may choose to remain list members or to opt out of the list by following the initial instructions (contained in the Administrative Trivia or Administrivia) that will be sent to all participants. After the initial invitation, listserve membership will be limited to members in good standing of the Corporate Counsel and Insurance Regulation Committees.

So, get your questions and discussion topics ready. Sometime this fall you will have access to a large group of experts willing to share knowledge, experience and how-tos with you. We hope you participate and find the listserve useful.

An advisory board comprised of Fern Summer, William (Bill) Scoggin, Joseph (Joe) Thornberg, and Susan Jennings exists to provide advice and counsel to the list manager in the administration of this list.
