Tax Section Provides On-Line Tax Discussion Groups

On-Line Discussion Groups

ABA-TAX, a tax law internet discussion group sponsored by the Tax Section, provides a much needed forum for the discussion of substantive tax law related matters and tax practice management issues. In the near term, the Tax Section intends this group to serve the needs of practitioners in all of the various law practice segments that the Tax Section serves including: corporate tax, closely held businesses, estate and gift taxes, administrative procedure and tax dispute resolution, employee benefits, and international.

The discussion group is currently open and there is no requirement, at this time, for participants to be members of the Tax Section. However, participation is limited to practitioners, law professors, and law students. You may subscribe by sending an E-mail message to LISTSERV@ABANET.ORG with the following as the first line of the text of your message:

SUBSCRIBE ABA-TAX

You don't need a subject for your message but if need be enter an "X" on the subject line.

You will receive a welcome message with more information about the discussion group. Here is a very short summary to give you an idea how the group works. You will receive each message as it is posted by another participant via E-mail from the list server at ABANET.ORG. You may post a message to the group by replying to one of the messages from the group. You may also initiate a message by addressing an E-mail message to ABA-TAX@ABANET.ORG with the topic of your message inserted on the subject line.

If you are willing to help us implement an on-line current developments forum in your area of practice or to help us present CLE seminars over the Internet, send an e-mail to taxweb@abanet.org indicating your interests.

Bulletins and releases will be distributed by the Tax Section over the Internet via E-mail. The bulletins and releases will be circulated via ABA-TAX, the general tax discussion group, and TAX-INFO, which is a distribution-only arrangement. The bulletins and releases are being posted in ABA-TAX to give the participants the opportunity to comment and make suggestions regarding the information being distributed.

Lawyers who are not signed up for ABA-TAX but wish to receive bulletins and other information of interest to members of the Tax Section should sign up for TAX-INFO by sending an e-mail message to LISTSERV@ABANET.ORG with the following as the first line of the text of your message:
