Probate and Trust Training Program
The Probate & Trust Division is working on a project to address the needs of new estate planners. Division leaders are developing a training program that will focus on estate planning skills and will include instruction in the fundamentals of wealth transfer taxation, income taxation of trusts and estates and instruction on the conceptual aspects of estate planning from both property law and tax perspectives. Program participants will have hypothetical as well as practical experience in producing memoranda and preparing draft instruments and tax forms. Ethics in everyday practice will also be highlighted. Using problems and case studies designed to facilitate the development of skills, the course will help new estate planners acquire fundamental knowledge and develop estate planning "judgment."
