E-STATE is the Section of Real Property, Probate and Trust Law’s on-line newsletter for Probate and Trust law. This new e-publication is modeled after E-Dirt, the section’s newsletter for Real Estate.

OUR GOAL is to provide readers with substantive articles about current Probate and Trust law issues and to provide useful information on the RPPT section’s activities, especially the annual Probate and Trust Law Spring Symposium and the ABA’s Annual Meeting.

This issue will be an introduction to E-STATE and will feature articles on Probate and Trust lawyers Pro Bono response to September 11th and provide valuable information about the Annual ABA meeting in Washington, D.C. The first edition of Recent Developments also appears.

Our next issue, 2003.2 will focus on technology issues for Probate and Trust lawyers. As of this date, issue 2003.3 is in the planning stages, but the focus is anticipated to be the practical problems and issues facing Probate and Trust lawyers.

E-STATE will provide information on upcoming Spring and Annual meetings, with links to registration materials and Continuing Legal Education options. In other issues, E-STATE will summarize past meetings and provide links to CLE materials offered for sale by the section. If you are interested in becoming the first Meeting Editor, please email Steele@whafh.com.

Recent Developments will be featured in all future issues of E-STATE. Starting with the next issue of E-STATE, Recent Developments will be edited by Jeffrey Pennell, Richard H. Clark Professor of Law, Emory University.

The ABA held its 2002 annual meeting in Washington, D.C., with the Section meeting at the Capital Hilton. Take advantage of the programs presented there through audio and video tapes available from the Section.

We also invite you to forward the addresses of helpful websites for us to consider publishing in upcoming editions.
