What Do YOU Think of the Billable Hour? Tell
the ABA
The American Bar Association
has created a Presidential Commission to determine
the impact of the billable hours system on the
profession and has requested the participation
of RPPT practitioners in this analysis. We encourage
every attorney receiving this issue of E-Dirt
to go to The
Commission's Web Site (click here) and
fill out an electronic questionnaire (it takes
less than 5 minutes) and, if you wish, to provide
whatever additional narrative comments you want
on the related web board. All comments will
be posted as anonymous. (If you would prefer
to complete a hard copy version of the questionnaire,

312/988-5134). The Commission is expected to
complete its analysis by the end of 2002. Your
participation will help the Commission to develop
suggestions both for alternative billing modes
and sensible use of the billable hours system
which would be more sensitive to the issues
and concerns faced by our Section members.
