Diversity Committee Activities

The Section's Diversity Committee recently joined the ABA's efforts to honor Hispanic jurists by posting a link to the web site prepared by the Division for Public Education with profiles of four outstanding Hispanic jurists for Hispanic Heritage Month. The committee encourages you to take a moment to learn something about these fine attorneys--their wonderful accomplishments and contributions to the legal profession and to the larger communities in which they serve.

The committee has also posted a link to a new video or audio tape program on Diversity. Valuing Diversity: Law Firms and Leadership in the 21st Century is now available through the ABA's Center for CLE.

This 40-minute program was developed as part of the ABA's ongoing emphasis on encouraging diversity in the profession. It has proven to be an indispensable resource as we enter the new millennium. It addresses such topics as: why a diverse workplace is important for law firms; the current realities of professional life; the current barriers to a diverse workplace; how law firms can overcome these barriers; and the practical steps law firm leaders should take.
