Real Property Groups and Committees

The RPTE Section has 45 Real Property Substantive Committees that focus on property use, ownership, development, transfer, regulation, financing, taxation and disposal. Click on each group or committee link below to learn more, or to become a group or committee member.

Legal Education and Uniform Laws Group
Surveys activities and information across the entire spectrum of real property topics.

Practice Management Group
Focuses on issues that enhance the effectiveness and profitability of real estate lawyer practices.

Land Use and Environmental Group
Provides analysis, discussion and education on private and public involvement in land use decisions.

Taxation Group
Focuses on federal and state tax issues and governmental incentives affecting real property development and redevelopment.

Commercial Real Estate Transactions Group
Analyzes and discusses the transactional issues involving all aspects of commercial real estate.

Residential, Multifamily, Special Use Group
Provides information and resources about specific types of residential housing, and all related consumer information.

Leasing Group
Produces programs, roundtables and educational materials to assist lawyers in improving their lease negotiation and drafting skills.

Hospitality, Community Recreation and Common Interest Developments Group
Focuses on issues involving the development, structuring, management and operation of real property developments.

Real Estate Financing Group
Presents educational programs and produces written materials to educate lawyers in all aspects of real estate finance.

Addresses issues involving specialized real estate investors and investment structures.

Membership Time Commitment

Your level of involvement in a group or committee is entirely up to you. You can become very involved, or you can stay on the sidelines and still have access to the latest information and developments in your group or committee's area of expertise.

How Do I Join a Group or Committee?

You may join a group or committee online. All groups and committees have open enrollment, but you must be an ABA member and an RPTE Section member to join.

Join The RPTE Section

If you're already an ABA member, simply add the Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law to your membership. The Section dues are $55 annually. Use your ABA membership ID to log in to the ABA website. Your password is your last name in lowercase letters. To join by phone or mail, contact the ABA Service Center at 800-285-2221 to speak with a membership representative. You must first be a member of the ABA to join the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section.
