Trust and Estate Groups and Committees

The RPTE Section has 26 Trust and Estate Committees that focus on trusts, estate planning, employee benefits, insurance, and trust and estates litigation. Click on each group or committee link below to learn more, or to become a group or committee member.

Income & Transfer Tax Planning Group
Provides information and resources on transfer taxes; the income taxation of trusts, estates, grantors and beneficiaries; and tax litigation and controversy.

Business Planning Group
Covers choice of entity, estate planning, and estate administration for clients who own business entities or interests in farms or ranches.

Charitable Planning and Organizations Group
Provides information and resources for the donor and charity aspects of the charitable giving process.

Elder Law, Disability Planning and Bioethics Group
Focuses on legal concerns of the elderly and persons with disabilities, along with legal and ethical issues related to new medical technology.

Employee Benefits & Other Compensation Group
Addresses all aspects of employee benefit plans and other compensation arrangements.

Litigation, Ethics and Malpractice Group
Focuses on issues of concern to estate and trust litigators, planners and administrators.

Wealth and Non Tax Estate Planning Group Committee
Provides information and resources on estate planning, and estate and trust administration issues other than taxation.

Membership Time Commitment

Your level of involvement in a group or committee is entirely up to you. You can become very involved, or you can stay on the sidelines and still have access to the latest information and developments in your group or committee's area of expertise.

How Do I Join a Group or Committee?

You may join a group or committee online. All groups and committees have open enrollment, but you must be an ABA member and an RPTE Section member to join.

Join The RPTE Section

If you're already an ABA member, simply add the Section of Real Property, Trust and Estate Law to your membership. The Section dues are $55 annually. Use your ABA membership ID to log in to the ABA website. Your password is your last name in lowercase letters. To join by phone or mail, contact the ABA Service Center at 800-285-2221 to speak with a membership representative. You must first be a member of the ABA to join the Real Property, Trust and Estate Law Section.
