Women and the Law
The ABA is working with women lawyers in Oman to help develop the professional capacity of women in the legal sector. The ABA's work in this area includes convening women legal professionals working in the public and private sectors to participate in professional development training and to provide opportunities for professional networking. To date, the ABA has held programs on the U.S.-Oman Free Trade Agreement, international and domestic intellectual property rights, cross-cultural considerations in business negotiations, interviewing techniques and other topics.
The ABA also works in the area of public legal education, and has supported the development of an interactive CD-ROM and related materials on Omani legal rights.

The ABA has conducted a series of roundtable discussions and skills trainings with the Oman College of Law. The ABA is also providing technical assistance to the College with integration of practical skills training into the curriculum. In connection with this effort, the ABA recently organized a comparative study program on clinical legal education for a delegation from the College to the Ukraine.

The ABA provides technical assistance with judicial education and institution-building focusing on a variety of legal topics. The ABA has conducted a series of training programs on topics including skill enhancement for attorneys in the investigation and trial of complex cases; reasonable doubt, due process and judicial independence, investigation and trial skills, intellectual property rights, mediation training and cyber crime and advanced cyber crime.
