The ABA is currently working with faculty at ISSED to develop and implement a course focusing on substantive national and international human rights law, skills training, clinical practice, and research and outreach. Members of the ISSED law faculty, private practitioners, and other Lebanese legal and human rights experts make up a Curriculum Development Advisory Committee.
The ABA is providing overall technical assistance, through its short term legal specialists and field-based staff, and draws on its extensive clinical experience around the world in implementing this program.
The second phase of the initiative will support the implementation of a pro bono legal clinic. The clinic will provide legal services to qualifying members of the public on human rights related matters. Working under the supervision of licensed practicing attorneys, students trained the previous year will staff the clinic to put their knowledge and skills to work.
