Gabriel Mumjiev Celebrates Six Years with ABA ROLI in Moldova
February 2008
ABA ROLI congratulates Gabriel Mumjiev on his six years of exceptional service to the Rule of Law Initiative in Moldova. Gabriel is the Traveling Lawyer Program Coordinator for Moldova. He is also responsible for office reporting and outreach matters and has mentored at least eight liaisons or legal specialists during his time with ABA ROLI.
Gabriel came to ABA ROLI in March 2002 after working as a program coordinator for the Soros Foundation, the International Foundation for Election Systems and as a journalist. Gabriel holds a degree in journalism and communication from Bucharest State University in Romania, is fluent in three languages and has edited and published two books on classical literature.
Gabriel’s greatest satisfaction at ABA ROLI has been his contributions to the development and growth of the Traveling Lawyers Program. During his tenure, this program has grown from sponsoring one lawyer to supporting and training nine lawyers, who deliver free legal services to rural areas of different regions within Moldova. Gabriel notes that in the past six years he has: “Step by step, seen initial enthusiasm replaced by a realistic approach and understanding of how to promote the rule of law in places where such things would have been inconceivable just a few decades ago.” Gabriel’s services over the past six years have played a significant role in this progress and ABA ROLI commends his contributions to its programs in Moldova.
