Hostilities between some cultures go back thousands of years. This cartoon uses the popular novel and movie Jurassic Park to characterize complex political issues that have caused bloody conflicts between the East and West for many centuries.
1. In what time period does the cartoon take place? How can you tell? What time period is invading it? How can you tell?
2. What character represents Islamic cultures? American culture? What character represents the Unresolved Hostilities between them? Why is this character appropriate?
3. The East and West in this cartoon know that they must diffuse hostilities or widespread misery will result. How do their approaches to a solution seem to differ? Taking one character at a time, do you find his approach helpful? Harmful? Explain your answer. What solution might you suggest?
