I live in a small town of only about 10,000 people. We have a
low crime rate and the crimes that are committed are not violent crimes most of the time.
Therefore, I am not very fearful of crimes in my city. |

I don't live a dangerous area right now but I grew up in a
pretty bad area of New York. Crime really did affect the way I lived. I was always
cautious, especially during the night when gangs would come to hang out around my
neighborhood. I would always hear about another mugging or attack of some kind and as a
result I feared crime but always made sure not to show it. By doing so, I would only make
myself more prone to becoming a victim of gang violence or any type of street violence. |

Unless I am in a situation where I'm in a dangerous place
alone, I do not have a fear of crime. This situation does not come up a lot. I don't have
a fear of gangs. If I lived in a place where there were problems I probaly be more scared.
However, there are places I wouldn't go by my self because of gangs and violence. |

Living in New York, there are many stereotypes about crime
and violence. I'm not really scared of crime or gang violence. I live in New York but a
good suburban neighborhood. I know a few people in gangs but they don't really cause many
violent outbursts. For the most part, I feel safe at home and at school. I've never
experienced a drive by, a shoot out, or anything like that. The only time that I've heard
about something like that is by watching it on the news. |

Well, I live in a urban area in New York City, so there are
many crimes around. Just the other day, two men were murdered a block away from where I
live. And in the past two years, there have been two rapes, and a number of other
drug-related crimes. In the beginning, it used to scare the life of me but after awhile
you get used to it. I don't walk in fear but I still take precautious b/c I could be the
next victim. I am very aware of things going around. |

There is not much crime in my town and so i am not in fear
for my life or anything else. It is really hard to fear a none existent. |

There isn't a lot of crime in my community that directly
effects me. I don't live everyday with a fear of violence. I have a hard time
comprehending what it would be like to be to afraid to walk down my street. |

Not very much. I've learned to push it to the back of my
mind, because it's so unpreventable, worring about it would drive me nuts. I have better
things to worry about, like AP History and boys. |

crime effects me in my everday life because where I use to
live we could not play games with our friends , we could not walk to the store ,but after
we moved things have even badder. my brother have been shot because on of his friends
did not like him. thats why it effects me in my everyday life.

There is not that much crime in our small town. So I am not
afraid to walk down my street at any time. At night I am more afraid of being sprayed by a
skunk then to be attacked by another student.
