| Statement of Intellectual Structure: |
| "The primary goal of the Legal Studies minor is to foster a critical
understanding of the law within its various contexts. To this end, diverse disciplinary
perspectives are brought to bear on a wide range of topics such as historical and
philosophical foundations of law, models of fairness, the evolution of disputes and their
resolutions, law and morality, crime and punishment, and rights and responsibilities of
individuals and social institutions. Students with varied interests, not only those
planning to attend law school, will find the Legal Studies minor challenging and
satisfying." |

Approximately seven courses, including a required
introductory course, advanced seminar and internship, as well as additional law-related
electives from political science, sociology, interdisciplinary studies, and philosophy and
religion. |
