Spring 2007: Immigration, Law & American Identity
In the course of the summit, students will learn about the rights of citizens and noncitizens, current immigration laws, and some of the political and social responses to immigration in American history. Students will analyze key Supreme Court decisions dealing with immigration issues, and research current and pending state and federal legislation.
Through participation in the summit, students will formulate informed opinions about illegal immigration in the contexts of globalization, economics, and national security. Students will be able to engage with and evaluate ongoing policy debates about the current economic and social impact of illegal immigration.
