Zephyrhills High School - Zephyrhills, FL
Class: Comprehensive Law Studies

Zephyrhills is a semi-rural community approximately 25 miles northeast of Tampa in West Central Florida, located about 50 miles from the Gulf of Mexico beaches. We have a year round population of about 17,000 people which grows to a retirement community of about 90,000 residents during the winter months. We have managed to retain the small town community feeling among year-round residents. We have a very active community with community groups providing many fun activities for the citizens such as: street dances, craft shows, live entertainment, etc. Our city is known for water (Zephyrhills Spring Water), eggs and skydiving. We are a family and community oriented city. Our major entertainment is the new Wal-Mart Super Center, which opened in August and is open 24 hours a day.

Zephyrhills High School is a public school of about 1350 students in grades 9-12. Our mascot is the Bulldogs and our school colors are orange and black. Our student population is 89% Caucasian, 5% Hispanic, 4% African-American and 1% other. This composition has remained unchanged over the years. We think we have a great school. Our school is divided into four learning communities. Every student and teacher chooses a learning community to be a member of. Each community has a focus =D0 ours is the HELPS Community (Health, Law and Public Service). Our student population is 89% Caucasian, 5% Hispanic, 4% African-American and 1% other. This composition has remained unchanged over the years. We think we have a great school. One of the most famous graduates of ZHS is Ryan Pickett, who played in the Super Bowl as a Defensive Tackle for the St. Louis Rams.

We are in the Comprehensive Law Studies Class. It is a year long study of all aspects of the law. This class is made up of students in grades 10-12. Our teacher is Mrs. Cynthia Brendle who teaches all the law classes at our school.

We are excited about participating in the Summit and look forward to interacting with other students across the United States. We also hope to learn more about how censorship affects us personally as well as how it affects society as a whole.
