We take pride in the fact that we participate in the International Baccalaureate Program as well as the fact that we are 5 times CIF champions in badminton, put out a nationally recognized, weekly newspaper called Paw Prints, which is about events at our campus and in our community. We are also
proud of the fact that our dance team is the National Champion in the large military division.
The city of Hacienda Heights has the largest Buddhist temple, called the Hsi Lai Temple, in the Western Hemisphere. Hacienda Heights has a median age of 36.9 years and is made up of 53,122 people with an ethnic break down of 36.1% Asian, 38.3% Hispanic, 41% White, 16.6% other. (Note the percentages are greater than 100% do to inter-racial members of our community that identify with both ethnic cultures.) Our town was the scene of the Twin Pines Mall in Back to the Future and the NBA player Scott Williams attended Glen A. Wilson High School. We have a large variety of shops ranging from family run cultural restaurants to large companies such as Wal Mart and VONS.
We hope to learn how to conduct a civilized online debate, complete the required research, learn how the first amendment applies to society today and about the rights of youths in today's society. Another goal of our class is to expand our views of the issues in our nation and also the different cultural views on each issue associated with youth access to the internet.
