Terry Sanford High School - Fayetteville, NC
Class: AP Government

This is Mr. Hight's 6th period AP class, one of 3 of his AP classes. We have 18 students, 16 white, 1 black and 1 Hispanic. There are 8 sophomores, 2 juniors and 8 seniors in the class, with 9 boys and 9 girls. Our school has 1439 students. In terms of gender breakdown, we have 52% girls and 48% boys. We have 58% white, 32% black, 4% Asian, 4% Hispanic and 2% other. It is the oldest school in our town, dating back to 1878. We are the "Bulldogs." We are very active in extracurricular events and have a fairly large and successful Mock Trial program.

Our town is the 5th largest in North Carolina with about 140,000 people. It is 55% white 30% black and the remaining 15% includes large Hispanic, Asian and Native American communities. Our largest industry is the military with Fort Bragg and Pope AFB nearby. We also have some manufacturing plants such as Kelly-Springfield tires and Black and Decker. The largest private employer is Walmart because of the distribution center. Our town serves as the major shopping and medical center for the southeastern region of North Carolina.

We hope to learn more about the constitution and our rights. In the age of immediate communications, we want to know more about the internet and how people are free, or restricted, in its use.
