Participants
Piedra Vista High School - Farmington, NM
Class: US History

We are Mrs. Lawrence's US class at Piedra Vista High School in Farmington, New Mexico, home of the Connie Mack World Series. Farmington is located near the Four Corners. Our areas largest employers are oilfield companies. Approximately 1200 students attend our school. Our school population is very diverse, it includes Anglos, Hispanics, Native Americans and African Americans. This is only the third year our school has been open. We have the state runner up football team, the district champion boys soccer team and our Student Senate recently won a Gold Award and is considered one of the best in the state. While we are known for our sports teams academics are very important to Piedra Vista, we also feel that technology plays an important role in education and we have one of the most technologically advanced schools in the area. Our area is well known for its outdoor recreation. Within a short distance there is skiing, snowboarding, 4 wheeling and a large lake. We are also located near the Navajo Reservation, the countries largest Indian reservation.
