Spring 2001: Does Capital Punishment Have a Future?

Participants
East Newton High School - Granby, MO
Class: American History

We are Mrs. Cebula’s American History class from East Newton High School in southwest Missouri. Our school has just under 450 students who come from several small surrounding towns. The first graduating class from our school was in 1969, when several smaller high schools were consolidated into East Newton High.

Agriculture is big around here. Our students compete and win in agricultural and vocational-tech. competitions. Academically, we are champs in Quiz Bowl, math, and science competitions. Our students are very talented in the areas of art and music. Our show choir and jazz band recently earned the highest state ratings.

We also have a variety of sports. Our football team was the 2A district champs. Our girls basketball team has been in the final four for state 3 years in a row. We also have state records in cross-country, track, baseball, and volleyball. When we aren’t busy with school or extra-curricular activities, the nearest mall is 45 minutes away and Kansas City is located 3 hours straight north.
