Spring 2001: Does Capital Punishment Have a Future?

Participants
Mojave High School - N. Las Vegas, NV
Class: Crime and Justice

We are Ms. Leach's Crime and Justice class at Mojave High School in N.Las Vegas, Nevada. Our school is only five years old and our mascot is the "Rattlers." Las Vegas is well known for gambling and tourism, as well as Area 51 and Yucca Mountain. There are 2300 students that go to Mojave. The make-up of the population is 30% White, 30% African American, 30% Hispanic, 6% Asian and 3% Native American. The greatest achievement of our school so far, is we were the 2000 Nevada State Boys and Girls Track Champions. We were also proud to have our U.S. Senator Harry Reid come and speak to our U.S. Government classes last year.

Since we are a fairly new school in this fast growing district, Mojave does not have a lot of history to share with the other participants in the summit. However, we look forward to participating in this class and creating a positive future for Mojave High School.
