Spring 2001: Does Capital Punishment Have a Future?

Participants
Forest Grove High School - Forest Grove, OR
Class: Street Law

We are a part of Mr. Bartels' Street Law elective at Forest Grove High School. We have about 1500 students attending our school. The student body is about 70% White, 25% Hispanic, and another 5% African-american and Asian-american.

Forest Grove is a small farming community where most people know each other. Many families in Forest Grove have jobs in or near Portland, where the economy is much larger. Companies like Intel and Nike are contributing to the fast growth of the area.

We had a very good volleyball and basketball team this year and we also have ski and snowboarding teams, uncommon for some high schools in this area. There is not a whole lot to do in Forest Grove, but we are only 30 minutes west of Portland, Oregon where many of us go to have fun. Also, we are about 45 minutes from the Pacific Ocean which is a popular summer vacation spot.

Our website is www.fgsd.k12.or.us. Check out the link to the high school to find out more about us!
