Belaire High School - Baton Rouge, LA
Class: Psychology -3rd Period

Belaire High School is more than just one of the most prestigious schools in East Baton Rouge Parish; it is also home to our 3rd hour Psychology Class. With an average population of approximately 1,019 students and a diversity ratio of about 70% African- American, 20% white and 10% other (Asian, Hispanic, East Indian). Belaire stands tall as a model of educational stability. Aside from its history of academic excellence, Belaire also proves to be a school of constant change and improvement as well as a source of entertainment for the students. Basketball, football, soccer and golf are just some of the many sports played here at Belaire.

Within the walls of this High School, there is a class of seventeen (17) students who are all unique and interested in Psychology. Our 3rd hour Psychology class proves to be very intriguing because of its subject matter for the students in this class. The mind and its functions relate closely to our everyday experience, in that we must all use our minds to dictate action. When it comes to class participation, no one objects to it. This is because most of our assignments are fun to do and they challenge you as well. Another attribute of this class is the group work done. It seems as though every time we are assigned group work, we become closer as a class.

So far, you know about our high school and the psychology class, there is, however, much more to us than that. Our school is located within the city of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Louisiana has and is one of the most unique states in the U.S., so its no surprise that its capital city holds some flavor of its own. With its historical sites, festive holidays, and especially its delightful cuisines, Baton Rouge has quickly become a favorite of tourists and a lifelong home to residents. Museums, zoos and sporting arenas contributes to this great city. One of the most fun things in which to partake is the Creole festival of Mardi gras, during which some of the states most enjoyable parades take place. Another activity that has become a favorite in our city is college sports, during whose seasons the fans go absolutely crazy.

Baton Rouge is more than just fun and games’, however, this city is continuously expanding and advancing through the building of malls, hospitals, hotels, and various other types of construction. Furthermore, our teachers here in this state are attempting to better their pay. Some of the more interesting things about Baton Rouge include: Bonne’ Fete, Mardi gras, excellent seafood, and great parties. Some interesting things about Belaire include: lots of school dances, sporting events, plenty of school spirit, and even our mascot, the Bengal tiger.
