Spring 2001: Does Capital Punishment Have a Future?

We are Mr. Condra's Business Law class at Abilene High School in Abilene, Texas. AHS has approximately 2,700 students with approximately 11% black, 42% Hispanic, 45 white, and 2% other.

Abilene is home to three institutions of higher learning: Abilene Christian University, McMurry University, and Hardin Simmons University. Dyess Air Force Base is also located here.

Abilene is located on Interstate 20 about 180 miles west of Dallas. It is said that Abilene is the beginning of West Texas. Farming, ranching, oil production, and some manufacturing round out our business climate.

Our sports teams are called the Eagles. We play all the major sports common to this part of Texas. AHS is the home of the oldest marching band in Texas.
