Freeedom of Speech

Let Your Voice be Heard – Celebrate the Freedom of Speech

Celebrate the First Amendment during National Freedom of Speech Week, October 20-26, 2008, by reflecting on what this right means to you and why it’s important for sustaining our democracy.

All Americans can participate in the celebration, whether you host an event at your workplace, community center or local school, or by simply exercising your right to free speech by engaging others in a discussion on the First Amendment.

First Amendment: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
