Product Highlights

  • Law Studies is the Law, Youth, and Citizenship's twice yearly periodical. Each issue will tackle a different issue relating to law-related and civic education. The issue always contains two articles written by an expert in the field of study and an attorney who works in the particular field of that issue. The periodical will also include lesson plans for K-12 teachers as well as other information related to the topic of that issue as well as upcoming opportunities offered by the LYC program.

    Designed to assist teachers of Global History and Geography, and to a lesser extent US History and Government, to address the vital issues of human rights that appear in the State Standards and Core Curriculum documents. The contrasting attitudes and assumptions held by most Americans concerning "rights," with the different and broader conceptions held by most non-Americans are woven throughout the book.
  • Stories Old and New. International Human Rights Law: Teaching its Historical Development, Current Content, and Future Significance—Teacher's Guide
    This teacher's guide is to accompany the original Stories Old and New or to use on its own. The guide has six units dealing with human rights throughout history. In each unit there are suggested activities and assessments, which include document based and thematic essay questions. If a document-based question is suggested the documents and scaffolding questions are included. The guide also includes a resources section that includes the full texts of many of the human rights documents throughout time, such as Hammurabi's Code of Law, the Magna Carta, the Universal Delectation of Human Rights, and the Bill of Rights. Stories Old and New is available for purchase through the LYC Program.
  • Rights and Responsibilities of Young People in New York
    provides accurate and authoritative information about the rights and responsibilities of young people in New York State. It is geared primarily to "non-lawyers." The rule of law is explained in clear understandable language.
