About the LRE Projects

Law-related education (LRE) projects flourish at national, state, and local levels. Some projects have many full-time staff and produce a wide range of programs and products, while others have primarily part-time and volunteer staff who focus on more limited outreach.

The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) supports the Youth for Justice LRE program, providing funding through five national organizations to projects in every state. With that funding, the American Bar Association Division for Public Education surveyed the state Youth for Justice projects, as well as other major LRE projects, to gather information for this Web site.

About this Web site

This site contains two major sections -- state and national.

The State LRE Projects section contains profiles of state Youth for Justice and other LRE projects, an index of the LRE programs and products most commonly reported by the state Youth for Justice projects, and a summary of the results of the 1998 survey of the State Youth for Justice Projects.

The National Youth for Justice Program section contains an overview of the national program (an adaptation of the Youth for Justice: Making a Difference brochure) and contact information for the five National LRE Projects participating in the program.

To get overviews of the sections, click on State or National below. Or just click on the links below each heading to start using the site immediately.
