Law Day Event

Activity Summary:

The day’s events found several ways to attract and keep our audience of over 300. Some of the activities and special features included:

  • Distinguished Speaker, Texas Supreme Court Justice, Craig Enoch.
  • Master of Ceremonies, University of Texas Women’s Coach and Basketball Hall of Famer, Jody Conradt.
  • Lots of food such as hot dogs, and especially Blue Bell Ice Cream .
  • The highly acclaimed Pflugerville High School Band.
  • Rising teenage singer, Allie Danielle, who was on the way to Nashville to record her first album.
  • Posters on display from all across the state.
  • The winning high school student, Ryan Taylor McKnight from Lake Jackson, reading his essay.
  • Numerous media members throughout the state winning a Gavel Award for reporting and educating the public on important legal issues.
  • Lots of free prizes given away.
  • Raising the energy level immediately and when Law Day concluded, the State Bar of Texas Theatrical Performers performed “Who Wants to be a Lawyer!”

Activity Narrative:

The State Bar of Texas Activity expanded public awareness of the rule of law. All of our activities highlighted the theme “Celebrate Your Freedom: Speak Up for Democracy and Diversity.” The extent and effectiveness of partnerships formed was impressive. The extent of our outreach program to communities and schools bodes well of the potential to extend beyond Law Day.
