Activity Narrative:

“under a cloudless sky and a canopy of trees” Pulaski County celebrated Law Day, 1999 -- Commonwealth Journal, Sunday, May 9, 1999

For Law Day, 1999, the Pulaski County Bar Association had a “Picnic on the Square.” We held our regular monthly meeting in public and in the open air on the town square. Local civic leaders, the Mayor, and the County Judge Executive attended as part of the ceremony. In addition, Law Day was selected as the kickoff event for the Pulaski County Bicentennial Celebration.

The Meece Middle School Band provided entertainment prior to the meeting. Chief Justice Joseph E. Lambert was the keynote speaker. The celebration concluded with an open house at the newly renovated historic office building of Pulaski County Bar President, Bruce W. Singleton.

In addition to the one-day celebration, members of the local bar wrote “op-ed” pieces for the local newspaper and recorded public service announcements for the local radio stations.

Pulaski County’s event was selected as Kentucky’s Outstanding Small Bar Association Law Day Celebration.
